The first thing that comes to mind about the Haven is the
breathtaking view one has from your banda.So cleverly
designed with a large window facing the Nile river, the
cabins at the haven are just perfect. It’s very hard to
think of doing anything other than just sitting on your
porch or in your cabin and staring at the rapids through the
large window rushing past as you wonder if your really only
one hour away from the chaos of Kampala. If you decide to
pull yourself away for a while, you can enjoy a scenic walk
along the footpath on the Nile river which the haven created
for their residents. You can even walk right down to the
rocks on the rapids of the falls where you can enjoy the
view, fish, take a canoe out onto the river or even swim in
the calmer parts of the river where there is a peer also
belonging to the haven. All the equipment for sport
activities are supplied by the haven.
The banda’s are beautifully decorated in an ethnic style,
the beds are very comfortable and the showers are wonderful.
All lights and hot water are supplied through solar power
which is installed onsite.
The haven has a
restaurant bar area with breathtaking views of the
waterfalls, a communal bathroom block, with showers, basins
and toilets, one double and one twin ‘banda’ hut, and four
luxury ‘banda’ chalets with en suite facilities. All
buildings are constructed out of brick and cement in
circular form like those of traditional mud huts prevalent
in the region.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included in the price, you
can even order your prefered dish before arriving! The food
is very well prepared and the portions are just right. The
service is also very good making you really feel that your
being looked after.
To round it up the haven is a prefect retreat for some
serious relaxation and peace and quiet. The standards of the
lodges and service are excellent and I personally have not
found anything better for value for money and for shear
natural beauty, comfort and peace and quiet!
